Motivational Minute

Hello
Friends!
Here is a message of POWER and PASSION to get your week started with
ENTHUSIASM!
Please feel free to share it with your friends and associates.
Have
you ever been frustrated when dealing with
customers or associates because of a lack of communication? With the
speed in which we live our daily lives it is quite easy to hear
something wrong
or just hear what you want to hear. To really feel good about ourselves
both personally and professionally and to avoid unnecessary aggravation,
it is important to listen and ask questions.
When you really listen to other people instead of just waiting to talk
you can better understand any situation. When you yourself are
communicating
an idea or thought to another person, it is important to ask them
questions. Ask them if they understand and really take the time to
clarify what it is that you expect as well as what they expect from you.
Lack of communication can be as simple as a "difference of
perception". For instance, if my three year old son looks at a
table with Batman toys and
lots of papers on it, what do you think he will notice? Of course he
would pick out the Batman toys as being the most important thing on the
table -
not even caring about the mess of papers. However, if I looked at the
same table, I would notice that "mess of papers" to be a final
draft of a new
workbook for an upcoming seminar. I would not notice the Batman toys at
all because that is unimportant to me.
So what about you when you are communicating with others? Remember that
what is important to you may be irrelevant to others. On the other hand,
what is most important to some one else may be of little interest to
you.
Make sure you CLARIFY what is most important to the people you work with
and be clear with them about what is relevant to you.
All of this takes a little slowing down in a world of dizzying speed but
it will always allow you to be better prepared. You will save time and
understand
what needs to be done when and how that affects everyone with which you
are working.
Make sure you put forth an effort to see how others perceive situations.
The more you understand people's perceptions, the better communicator
you
will be in any situation. Have a tremendous week!
